Peach Springs Unified School District students proudly represented their school and community today at the opening of the Mohave County Fair, performing traditional Bird Dances as part of the opening festivities.
A total of 47 students made the trip and participated in the performance, wearing beautiful traditional regalia and sharing an important part of Hualapai culture with those in attendance.
The performance was the result of several weeks of preparation in Ms. Bonita Imus’s cultural class, where students have been learning and practicing the Bird Dances. Nate Honga has also been working with the students, sharing his time and cultural knowledge to help prepare them for today’s performance.
Attending the Mohave County Fair has become an annual tradition for our students, and we are proud to see them return each year to share their culture, traditions, and talents with the broader Mohave County community.
We are grateful to Ms. Bonita, Mr. Honga, our staff, families, and everyone who helped make today’s experience possible—and especially proud of our 47 students for representing Peach Springs Unified School District and the Hualapai community so beautifully.
